  3. Boghall Butcher’s Scotch Pie

The crust has a sensational crispness to it, which reverberates around my earlobes, without presenting my teeth with too much trouble. The meat juices are pooled in a little indentation in the traditional Scottish top crust. The pie is bubbling away on top and covered in salt. It is compact and almost exclusively light brown mincemeat; the cheaper alternative to steak but no less fulfilling an experience. A very genuine, natural flavour just sat the right side of not being too greasy – just the way they like it around here
