Sensational! At Burchalls the pie is the personality. On a practical note they are served double wrapped to give some insulation from the heat and the grease doesn’t filter straight through to your hands. The pastry is highly uneven and very acute. It has an almost Scotch pie style crust edge, which rears up above the delicate middle. No tray so I recommend a plate to catch the juices. A double scoop of spicy sausage meat and abundant levels of juices flowing through. From the second I break into it, piping hot peppery pie juice spurts all over the place. A messy, fiery full bodied affair. Phenomenal!
