The P for picnic has depressed into the lid a touch but the now familiar magnificent crown shape of the top crust marks this out as a prestige pie. Of course the beauty of this is that I don’t have to wait till it’s cooked. Getting it out of the foil tray is no mean feat as it is tightly compressed in there but after removal what I find is another work of art. It is a beautifully layered pie, arranged as pork then chicken, with bacon and onion in a free role throughout. The meat infuses into one and I can only describe it as a gourmet sausage roll, even though it’s much deeper and grander
