Spot of controversy here. On first inspection it looks an amazing crust but I can’t help noticing the bottom of the foil tray is a touch uneven. I attempt to lift the pie out of the tray and realise why: the crust stops halfway down the side. There’s no pastry base, it’s just filling! This makes it messy eating it the traditional way i.e. with your hands but is a novel approach regardless. The lip of the crust is quite heavy and heartburn inducing despite an impressive curl and sheen to it. If that is a problem, it is quickly eradicated by the massive chunks of prime steak enveloped in thick gravy flanked by soft potato cubes. Simply fantastic as dark gravy and juices permeate down through the thick meaty portions and moist potato keep me dribbling, it’s a winner.
