Despite some early concerns about pricing and freshness the Crusty Pie Company Steak and ale pie is exceptionally filling and leaves my appetite feeling decidedly battle weary, there is a crisp if not crusty crust enabling perfect portability with the hands. The smell isn’t evident save for the pastry glaze but after cutting it open steam flies off in all directions like a Pearl & Dean advert. It is absolutely heaving with stewing steak of an above average chunk size, which is perfectly complimented with rich gravy and savoury spicy jelly
