This is a sublimely soft melt in the mouth suet dumpling-style and completely encased. Not exactly a crust mind you but nevertheless a captivating feast. Meat overload with big chunks of steak, diced segments of bacon teamed up with onions, button mushrooms (urgh!) and gravy. Lots of it, and served with chips not veg! Rich meaty flavours, hints of garlic, an exquisite parcel of joy. For several hours subsequent it feels like I’m carrying around a medicine ball in my tummy. It’s big enough to block out the shadow of the Heysham Power Station looming in the distance. This pastry based receptacle is a bit like Sport Billy’s bag in that I just keep pulling more and more out of it but a great setting and a great big pudding.
